November 3 is stacked: Shrek at 25, Gone with the Wind on 4K, and all of GOT

Tuesday's big 4K and Blu-ray releases, what they cost, and the one Shrek edition that's now listed two weeks later.

Tuesday is stacked. Shrek turns 25 with a remastered 4K, Gone with the Wind hits the format for the first time, and HBO is boxing all eight seasons of GOT in individual steelbooks. Here's where the money goes, and the one steelbook that's probably running late.

The big three

Cover of Shrek 4K UHD 25th Anniversary Edition

Shrek (2001), 25th Anniversary Edition: $19.99 (Gruv)

Twenty bucks for a three-disc anniversary 4K is an easy yes on price alone. If you already own the 2021 4K, here's the upgrade math: that one's $14.99 (Gruv) with HDR10 and DTS:X, while this one has Dolby Vision, HDR10 and Atmos, plus Origins of an Ogre on the features list.

The catch is the limited steelbook at $29.99 (Gruv). Universal's announcement put it on November 3 too, but Gruv now lists November 17, and we haven't seen an explanation. Plan on the 17th.

Cover of Gone With the Wind 4K UHD

Gone with the Wind (1939): $24.99 (Gruv), or $29.99 in steel (Gruv)

Shot in three-strip Technicolor, and this is its first time on 4K. The standard three-disc set is listed with Dolby Vision and both 2.0 and 5.1 DTS-HD MA tracks, and a restoration featurette is on the back cover. Five bucks is a small step up to the steelbook. There's also a collector's edition, but that one's only at Walmart.com, and we don't track it (yet).

Cover of Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection 4K UHD Steelbook

Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection, 15th Anniversary: $224.99 (Gruv)

A numbered steelbook library case with eight individual season steelbooks and a booklet. That works out to about $28 a season. It's a lot of steel for one shelf, so measure first.

New this week

The Uprising

4K is $27.95 (Gruv) with Dolby Vision and HDR10, and the Blu-ray is $22.95 (Gruv). The steelbook adds $10 to the 4K price (Gruv). Universal's date covers the 4K and Blu-ray, but so far we've only seen retailers list the steelbook.

The End of Oak Street

4K is $27.95 (Gruv) with Dolby Vision and Atmos. The Blu-ray keeps the Atmos track and the same three featurettes for $22.95 (Gruv), so that's the budget pick if you don't need 4K. The steelbook is $37.95 (Gruv) and listed at two discs to the standard 4K's one. Warner's announcements don't mention it, so treat that edition as retailer-listed.

Listed for the 3rd, not announced

We have these dates from the store listing only, so they could still move.

Prices from Gruv on Nov 1; they move.
